Samsung S24 Ultra, S24 Plus & S24 Mobiles | Overview

Samsung s24

The imminent arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series is on the horizon. As always, we pretty much know everything there is to know. We are going to be breaking down all of the specifications. So we are going to have three new devices every year. There is going to be  s24, s24+, and as well as s24 ultra. Now, generally speaking, the design language will be pretty familiar. We will have three triple-ring designs that we have seen across Samsung devices.

Specifications of Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

The s24 and the s24+ will have curved sides, whereas the s24 ultra will be more boxed off. Which we have seen on previous note devices, as well as the recent s22 and s23 ultra devices. So, there is nothing new and massively exciting regarding the designs. However, the S24 Ultra is going to have a much flatter display. Whether you like a curved or a flat display comes to personal preference. In our opinion, a curved display looks better, but a flatter display is more practical and goes better with a screen protector.

The s24 and the s24+ have an armor aluminum 2.0 frame, but this year, the s24 ultra has a titanium frame. We will let you guess where they got the idea. Of course, for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, Apple has opted for a titanium frame, which is one of the main selling points of the devices. So obviously, Samsung has to compete, and their device now has a titanium frame. All devices have an IP68 water and dust resistance, as expected.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Will have four colors: black, gray, violet, and yellow. Now, three exclusive shades will be available on orange, green, and blue.

Now, quite interestingly for the displays because the s24 and s24+ will have slightly larger displays than last year. Furthermore, the s24 will have a 6.2-inch display compared to the 6.1 inch on the s23. The s24+ will have a slightly larger 6.7-inch display than the 6.6-inch of the s23+. Now, another improvement we’ve got on the S24+ this year is that it’s got a higher resolution compared to the S23+. Furthermore, it’s Quad-HD+, similar to what we’ve got on the S24 Ultra. The S24 has a full HD+ display.

All three devices will have a high 120 Hertz refresh rate. Although the S24 Ultra has a slightly more advanced display, which will be more efficient. as expected, All three devices will be using AMOLED technology. So, the punch out at the top. We’re not going to have an under-display camera. One significant improvement across all devices is the peak brightness, now up to 2,600 nits. That’s quite a jump from the 1,750 nits we had on the S23 Series. So, it’s good to see that the S24 series will be above the S23 series.

As expected, the s24 ultra will have an enclosed s-pen, as we have had on the s22 and the s23 ultra. The S-pen works excellent on the S23 Ultra. So, this is just going to be a continuation.

Right now, let’s talk about performance. So, on the S23 Series, one of the best things about it, in our opinion, was that we had a consistent chipset across the board. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is a custom chip. This year, it looks like Samsung’s rewinding and again going for a split between an Exynos chipset, the Samsung Exynos 2,400, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Now, it seems like the S24 Ultra at least may have that consistent chipset across the board, the 8 Gen 3.

But for the S24 and maybe for the S24+, we will have that split between the Snapdragon and the Exynos chips, based on your region. You’ll probably get the Qualcomm chip if you’re in America or South Korea. But if you’re in Europe and Asia, you will likely get the Exynos chip. I obviously can’t comment too much because I’ve not tried these side-by-side, but the Exynos chip is supposed to be 70% faster and has the next-gen AMD GPU architecture. So it’ll be interesting to see how it compares to the 8 Gen 3.

For the different storage variants and RAM, the S24 is rumored to come with eight gigabytes of RAM and either 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage. The S24+ and the S24 Ultra will likely come with 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes or 512 gigabytes of storage. Nonetheless, the S24 Ultra will feature a specific variant with one terabyte of storage.

AI Features

The new S24 Series generates much buzz, especially regarding its AI capabilities. According to leaks, various AI features, such as Nightography Zoom, will be used for better low-light zoomed-in images. Another cool feature is Generative Editing, allowing you to move or remove objects and fill empty spaces, similar to what’s seen on Google Pixels with Magic Eraser and Magic Editor. A rumored AI feature called Live Translate enables on-the-spot translation of foreign languages from the phone app.

Now, let’s talk batteries. The S24 Ultra is said to maintain the same 5,000 milliampere-hour battery as the S23 Ultra, which is known for its excellent battery life. Expect the S24 Ultra to be efficient with the new chipsets. On the other hand, the S24 and S24+ are rumored to have larger batteries than their predecessors. The S24 may have a 4,000-milliampere-hour battery, while the S24+ could boast a substantial 4,900-milliampere-hour battery, close to the S24 Ultra. One reason for the larger batteries in the S24 and S24+ might be the absence of an enclosed S-Pen, a feature found in the S24 Ultra. All devices will support fast charging, with the S24+ and S24 Ultra offering up to 45 watts. Wireless and reverse-wireless charging (PowerShare) will also be available across the lineup.

Now, for the exciting part, the cameras. The S24 and the S24+ will have a similar camera setup. They feature a camera arrangement comprising a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with an optical zoom capability, along with a remarkable space zoom capability of up to 30 times.
The S24 Ultra cameras will have a 200-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto. However, the significant change is around the periscope zoom camera. So the S22 Ultra and the S23 Ultra have a 10-megapixel, 10x periscope zoom camera, which extends to 100 times and lets you take pictures of the moon, which we know many people like.

Right, finally, availability and pricing. The official launch event is rumored to happen on January 17th, and the S24 series should be available for purchase globally starting from January 26th.

From what we can gather, the prices for the S24 series are expected to be similar to those of the S23 series.
